@atpfm now that you’re using Mastodon and justifiably distancing yourselves from Twitter, doesn’t the ATP theme song feel a little off, considering a big part of the song promotes your Twitter handles? 🤔
Hey there! We’re working on expanding activists’ use of Mastodon for movement-building. Can you help by boosting this toot about the free online trainings coming up with intermediate and advanced tips on ramping up on Mastodon? https://campaign.openworlds.info/@socialmovetech/109570733649911912
Solidarity and best wishes for the New Year!

Happy NY everyone. I’m doing a #DryJanuary which is probably relatively easy because I just did a #DryDecember, somewhat on a whim.
Wanted to optimize for physical and mental health (energy, mood, emotional stability – everything, really) and ditching alcohol at least for a while suddenly felt like a no-brainer
#dtv
“You can find us anywhere you get your podcasts.”
I *adore* this phrase, because it has been like two whole-ass decades and not one single venture capital darling has managed to unseat plain RSS as the distribution method for podcasts. Not one. (And they have really tried!)
Podcasts are just out there, like air. You don’t go to one place to get them; you get them from everywhere and anywhere. You can choose how you want to engage with them and manage them and it is legitimately heartwarming that nothing has ever gotten in the way of that being a fundamental fact.
This is the best of what the web is. It will never have a stock ticker or even a marketing scheme. Most people don’t even know it is there. But it endures (past the many, many attempts by squillionaire corporates to kill it) because of its absolute unshakable utility.
My suggestion: any time you hear “anywhere you get your podcasts”, send a little thanks to RSS for keeping the real web alive.
I’m sick & tired of pretending that people still willingly using Twitter aren’t enabling this.
Every tweet, every login, every like is fueling his reach and god complex. If everyone who doesn’t support him would just leave the platform, he would have no choice but to reconsider how he is behaving & who he is platforming.
It’s the absolute BARE minimum we can do to stop the progression of online hatred & misinformation. YOU DONT HAVE TO DO *ANYTHING* TO STAY AWAY FROM TWITTER. #ElonMusk
"Write Eminem-style rap lyrics about the challenges of running your own Mastodon server"
(Verse 1)
Running my own Mastodon server, it's a never-ending grind
I'm the admin, the moderator, and sometimes I don't have the time
I'm constantly checking logs and making sure everything's in line
But even with all my hard work, it's still tough to keep it fine
3/3
<repeat chorus>
(Bridge)
It's not easy, but I'm not alone
I've got my users, and we're a team
We'll keep on fighting, and we'll never give up
Mastodon, Mastodon, we're in this together
<repeat chorus>
2/
(Chorus)
Mastodon, Mastodon, it's a challenge that I face
Running my own server, it's a constant race
But I'm up for it, I'm not gonna give in
I'll keep on pushing through, no matter what life throws at me
(Verse 2)
Trolls and bots, they try to bring me down
But I've got my mods and my rules, they won't be around
I've got a community of users who keep it real
They support me and help me to keep things chill
